Lauren Hinzey O'Malley joined the Raleigh Divorce Law Firm in September 2010. Since that time, Lauren has practiced exclusively in the area of family law. She has experience in a variety of family law issues, including child custody, child support, post-separation support, alimony, equitable distribution, domestic violence, and negotiation and preparation of separation agreements. Lauren has also litigated termination of parental rights cases and has handled adoptions. She is experienced in litigation and settlement procedures including settlement conferences and mediations. Lauren understands that her clients are going through one of the most difficult times in their life. She is committed to guiding her clients through each step of their case to make the process as easy as possible while providing compassionate support along the way.

Lauren practices primarily in Wake County but also has experience litigating cases in Durham, Johnston, Franklin, Harnett, Granville and Lee Counties.

In 2007, Lauren graduated from Penn State University with a B.A. in History and Political Science. She is a 2010 graduate of Duquesne University School of Law located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During her second year of law school, Lauren participated in the Civil and Family Justice Law Clinic where she was placed at KidsVoice, a public interest organization that represents abused, neglected, and at-risk youth in Allegheny County. In this role, under attorney supervision, she served as a Guardian ad Litem for children in various court proceedings. Following the end of her second year of law school, Lauren received a fellowship through the Summer Public Interest Fellowship Program which permitted her to continue focusing her efforts on abused, neglected and at risk youth.

Lauren continues this passion today as a pro bono Appellate Counsel for the Guardian ad Litem program. In this role, she drafts and files appellate briefs in the North Carolina Court of Appeals on behalf of the Guardian ad Litem whose sole purpose is the best interest of the child. Lauren also volunteers her time to the Wake County Domestic Violence Custody Court where she represents parties who have a domestic violence protective orders in place negotiate temporary custody orders.
